The two groups from Germany in their recent publication in Angewandte Chemie proved that combining top-down (electrospinning) with bottom-up (crystallization- driven self-assembly) approaches is an elegant route to nonwovens with a patch-like nanostructured surface that efficiently bind and stabilize catalytically active nanoparticles. The hybrid nonwovens are an efficient and reusable catalysis platform for the alcoholysis of dimethylphenylsilane.
