Prof. Dr. Gianvito Vilé
EFCATS proudly announces that the recipient of the 2025 EFCATS Young Researcher Award is prof. Dr. Gianvito Vilé, affiliated with the Politecnico di Milano (Italy).
Prof. Gianvito Vilé stands out as a leading figure among the new generation of catalysis researchers, uniquely combining deep experimental expertise with a strong grasp of theoretical principles. After earning his Ph.D. with the ETH Medal from ETH Zürich under the guidance of Prof. Javier Pérez-Ramírez, he quickly emerged as a young leader in the field and is now an Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano. His innovative research spans single-atom catalysis, sustainable chemical processes, and the design of earth-abundant catalytic systems, with major contributions including Cu-based catalysts for click chemistry, Ni single-atom systems for light-driven coupling reactions, and zeolite modifications for CO₂-assisted ethane dehydrogenation. Prof. Vilé has successfully secured major funding, including an ERC Starting Grant and leadership of multiple MSCA projects, and has received prestigious honors like the Alfredo di Braccio and the Italian Robert K. Grasselli Awards. A Fellow of the Young Academy of Europe and a proven leader in fostering international research networks, Prof. Vilé exemplifies excellence in heterogeneous catalysis.
The EFCATS award will be presented at the 16th European Congress on Catalysis, Europacat 2025 (Trondheim, August 31-September 5, 2025).
