Dr. Arik Beck

EFCATS proudly announces that the winner of the 2023 EFCATS Best PhD Thesis Award is Dr. Arik Beck for the thesis entitled “The structural transformation of metal-metal oxide catalysts in reactive environments”.

Dr. Becks’ thesis is characterized by the evaluation committee as being: undoubtably an excellent thesis, the best in terms of catalysis per se. The conceptual approach, combination of techniques and the general impact of the thesis for catalysis are a few of the noteworthy excellent points.

The submission was done by the Swiss society. The PhD research was performed at the ETH in Zurich at the Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering  in the Heterogeneous Catalysis Group under supervision of Prof. Jeroen van Bokhoven.
