The APACS & EFCATS Michel Che Award
The APACS & EFCATS Michel Che Award aims to recognize outstanding scientists for their fundamental contributions in the fields of catalyst design and characterization. The award is presented jointly by the Asia-Pacific Association of Catalysis Societies (APACS) and the European Federation of Catalysis Societies (EFCATS) every two years. The recipient will give plenary lectures at the biannual meeting of EFCATS (EuropaCat) and the triannual meeting of APACS (APCAT). The award consists of a plaque and a prize of €2,000. Up to an additional €2,000 will be made available for otherwise non-reimbursed travel expenses.
The Award recognizes and encourages individual contributions to understanding molecular processes at solid–liquid or solid–gas interfaces, focusing on catalyst preparation, surface reactivity, and the broader role of physico-chemical methods in these fields. The Award selection process will emphasize accomplishments and contributions within the five preceding years. Candidates may be nominated without any restriction of national origin, clearly manifesting collaboration between Asian and European catalysis communities and thereby reflecting the tireless efforts of Prof. Che in bringing these communities together.
The recipient of the APACS & EFCATS Michel Che Award will be selected by a committee of renowned researchers appointed jointly by the representatives of the Asia-Pacific Association of Catalysis Societies and of the European Federation of Catalysis Societies. The selection shall be made without regard for age, gender, affiliation, or national origin.
The nomination proposal should describe clearly, specifically, and concisely the nominee’s qualifications and accomplishments in the context of the specific award. The proposal should include the following documents (submitted as a single PDF file and not exceeding the indicated length):
- a nomination letter (1000 words);
- two supporting letters (800 words each);
- a narrative biographical note (500 words);
- a curriculum vitae for the nominee, including relevant positions and recognitions and a list of publications and patents.
The nomination and supporting letters should specify the year and the name of the award.
One complete electronic copy of the nomination (as a single PDF file) for the Michel Che Award should be sent to the President of The European Federation of Catalysis Societies, Prof. David Kubicka () and the President of the Asia-Pacific Association of Catalysis Societies, Prof. Piyasan Praserthdam (piyasan.p@chula.ac.th).
