Structure sensitivity of Cu and CuZn catalysts relevant to industrial methanol synthesis

The group of researchers from University of Utrecht m headed by Professors Petra and Krjin de Jong studied the effect of Cu crystallite size of the methanol synthesis reaction and concluded that reaction takes place at copper surface sites with a unique configuration of atoms such as step-edge sites, which smaller particles cannot accommodate.
